I must confess that I have an obsession with scarves, simply because I think it's the perfect way to spice up a neutral outfit. I search all over the place for scarves for the kids, I wanted something for Azul that could add a pop of color to her outfits, something that she could wear with jeans, dresses and over light jackets, but we couldn't find anything that we really like so I decided to make one. Here is how you can make your own:
How to make tassels: 1. Collect embroidery thread in colors you love, I chose Azul's favorite colors. 2. Take one color of embroidery thread and tie a knot in both ends with a 4-inch piece of white (or any other color of your choice) thread. 3. Fold and cut in half. 4. Tie a piece of matching color thread around the top of your tassel, completing it. so easy! You can make a huge pile of these in one sitting!
For the scarf I use a 19x19-inch square of fabric that has been hemmed around each side.
Next fold your scarf into a triangle and arrange the tassels on the edges. I left about 4 inches on the corners of two edges tassel free, so that would be easier to tie. After you are pleased with your color placement, attach each tassel. Note: I attach my tassels with a needle, but it all depends on the fabric you chose if you use lace you can just tie the tassels with the embroidery thread that is already attach to each tassel.
I hope you enjoy your new colorful accessory! XO. Laura
